About the Role: Shaping the Future of Retail with Data As a Data Analyst at Walmart, you'll be at the forefront of our data-driven transformation. You'll work closely with our business stakeholders to identify complex problems, develop data-driven solutions, and implement them to drive tangible business outcomes. Your role will be multifaceted, involving everything from data extraction and analysis to visualization and presenting insights to senior stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: Where Data Meets Action Statistics Source Identity: Leverage your knowledge of business areas, data sources, and database technologies to identify the most suitable data sources for business needs. Perform initial data quality checks to ensure the data is fit for purpose. Code Development and Testing: Utilize your programming skills in languages like SQL, Java, C++, Python, and others to develop code for data analysis and solution development. Test your code using various testing methodologies to ensure its robustness. Model Evaluation and Validation: Apply your understanding of model testing, tuning, and validation techniques to assess the accuracy and robustness of our analytical models. Use metrics like Chi-square, ROC curve, and root mean square error to evaluate model performance. Data Visualization: Generate compelling graphical representations of data and model outcomes using visualization tools like Python, R libraries, Tableau, and PowerBI. Work with UX designers and UI engineers to build front-end applications that bring data to life. Understanding Business Context: Provide recommendations to business stakeholders to solve complex problems. Develop business cases for projects with a projected ROI or cost savings, and translate business requirements into actionable plans. Tech Problem Formulation: Translate business problems into data-related or mathematical solutions. Identify appropriate methodologies and tools to solve these problems, and share use cases to demonstrate the effectiveness of your approach. Analytical Modeling: Develop custom analytical models using advanced statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms. Conduct exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and model testing to drive business insights. Essential Qualifications: The Foundation for Success To excel in this role, you'll need: Either a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Data Science, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology) with 3 years of experience in an analytics-related field, Or a Master's degree in a relevant field with 1 year of experience, Or 5 years of experience in an analytics or related field. Preferred Qualifications: Elevating Your Application While not mandatory, having the following qualifications can significantly enhance your candidacy: A background in data science, machine learning, or optimization models. A Master's degree in a specialized field like Machine Learning, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, Statistics, or Applied Mathematics.
