Job Summary As a Part-Time Statistics Analyst I, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of sports data across ESPN platforms, including television broadcasts, online products, and mobile apps. You will work closely with automated data feeds and utilize manual data entry to guarantee the delivery of accurate, timely, and insightful sports data. Additionally, you will contribute to the transformation of data into storylines and help explain statistical events that shape the sports narrative. Key Responsibilities Data Accuracy and Timeliness: Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of sports data distributed by the Data and Information Gathering team across various ESPN platforms. Data Entry and Analysis: Work individually and in teams to deliver accurate detailed breakdowns, clock-and-score, and other metrics and data in real-time that power ESPN products and creations. Data Management: Create and maintain a working knowledge of Data and Information Gathering's role in fueling ESPN digital products and television productions. Quality Control: Review the accuracy of your own work and that of others, performing with a consistently high level of attention to detail. Collaboration and Communication: Contribute to production, operations, and initiatives across the newsroom, and communicate effectively with colleagues and newsroom leaders. Problem-Solving: Anticipate potential issues and develop possible solutions, communicating rapidly and unequivocally with colleagues on these issues. Process Improvement: Play a proactive role in working with colleagues to develop or refine production processes. Team Participation: Actively participate in team and department meetings, seeking and responding to feedback around individual performance. Requirements and Qualifications Essential Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as mathematics, economics, or computer science. Working Knowledge: Working knowledge of teams, players, and the rules of various sports. Full Schedule Availability: Full schedule availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Learning Ability: Ability to rapidly learn production processes that produce or maintain sports data driving ESPN's digital and television products. Content Accuracy: Ability to achieve a high level of content accuracy in time-sensitive production environments. Communication Skills: Ability to communicate confidently and effectively, both verbally and in writing, to production managers and colleagues. Preferred Qualifications: 1+ Year of Experience: 1+ year of experience working in sports or statistics, preferably in media. Sports Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of how sports data is used in media and for research purposes. ESPN Products Knowledge: Working knowledge of ESPN products and creations. Microsoft Office: Experience with Microsoft Office products, including Excel. Leadership Experience: Experience leading or training a team. Spanish Language Skills: Ability to speak and write Spanish. Social Media Experience: Experience using social media in a business or news environment.
