About the team: This person is a key member of the Insurance Global Communications team responsible for developing and driving internal and external communications, including messaging for international media and customer-facing employees, influencers and analysts. In our U. S., China and other emerging markets, you will help the company create an impression, raise awareness, encourage a preference and response by press and target stakeholders to gain understanding and acceptance for the organization and its products, services and brands. About the job: The Sr. Communications Specialist will work closely with global agencies, a high performing cross-functional marketing team and other internal and external partners including senior staff in a highly matrixed environment. The successful candidate will support senior leadership in key geographies, especially the U. S. and China, and for emerging markets on achieving business objectives and growth priorities. This person will need to be located in Pacific Time Zone to support our China team. This person will need to be bilingual in Mandarin. You'll be responsible for: This role contributes to the strategy of the global communications function and execution of localized, market-led communications plans. The position brings innovative thinking, delivers results in fast-changing businesses and/or regulatory environments where decision-making is guided by functional strategy. Qualifications: Bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese - Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills in English (U. S. or U. K.) and Mandarin Chinese Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations or related field (Communications, Journalism, Marketing) Proven experience working within or managing an agency and a track-record for delivering results Able and willing to work flexible hours to support U. S. and China regional insurance business units Americas and APAC experience required; other international experience a plus Social media experience on a variety of platforms and tools Expert skills in Microsoft Office: MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint and media monitoring Communicates clearly and effectively with knowledge of AP Style Guidelines Ability to take raw data and develop content for a specific audience or channel Desire to learn quickly and proactively connect the dots between BU activities and stakeholders Delivers results using media coverage measurement tools and analysis Functional Knowledge: Applies comprehensive understanding of industry standards and principles, internally and externally Business Acumen: Interprets internal/external business challenges and recommends communications best practices to manager and stakeholders. Ability to multi-task, manage projects and prioritize activities. Organized and detail oriented, able to interact and contribute in a fast-paced environment. Leadership: Manages communications strategy for multiple markets, including global geographies, working with diverse teams of managers, senior professionals and cross-functional teams. Demonstrates professionalism in dealing with confidential, sensitive information and reputation management activities. Ability to collaborate at all levels within the organization. Problem-Solving: Thinks both creatively and analytically. Ability to work independently, including troubleshooting and problem solving. Works closely with country marketing teams and oversee communications execution based on country and vertical marketing plans.
