Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Fiscal Technician to provide financial support and services to the Richmond District Business Office. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining, calculating, researching, validating, and performing data input for various accounting transactions, including time and attendance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, procurement, SPCC, travel, inventory, and other related fiscal service transactions. Key Responsibilities Maintain and perform data entry of employee time, overtime, leave, and equipment rental Receive, verify, and reconcile invoices to Cardinal receiver Review charge distributions for accuracy and ensure documentation has appropriate signatures, approvals, and required SWAM documentation Process Mancon invoices Prepare requisitions and purchase orders Receive and verify, and reconcile SPCC Review and perform data entry of travel authorizations reimbursements Key inventory data and run monthly reports Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications: Knowledge of basic accounting, math, and business principles Working knowledge of policy and procedure related to time and attendance, accounts payable/receivable, procurement, inventory, and travel Ability to monitor and analyze data and accurately perform data entry in automated financial and inventory systems and prepare financial reports Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with internal and external customers and to work independently or as a team member Ability to maintain files, purge, and dispose of files in accordance with records retention guidelines and schedules Skill in the use of computers and software applications to include automated inventory and financial management software and Microsoft Office programs Valid driver's license required Preferred Qualifications In addition to the essential qualifications, we are looking for candidates with the following preferred qualifications: Experience applying knowledge of GAAP, governmental accounting, internal controls, inventory, and compliance Knowledge and experience processing accounts payable and accounts receivable Knowledge and experience performing account reconciliations and tracking time and attendance Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to learn and adapt to new systems and processes Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits As a Fiscal Technician with VDOT, you will have opportunities to grow and develop your career in a dynamic and supportive environment.
