About the Role The Director of Online Student Experience is a pivotal position that oversees the leadership, implementation, and evaluation of online student success initiatives. This role is responsible for ensuring that online students receive equitable learning opportunities and are retained, progress, and complete their programs at rates comparable to their in-person counterparts. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of student-centered and equity-minded practices, as well as experience in implementing student success initiatives using data-informed decisions. Key Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership and management to the Online Student Support Specialists team, ensuring effective support for online students. Develop and enhance ongoing and ad hoc campaigns in the Salesforce platform (Rebel Success Hub) to promote student success, retention, and completion. Conduct equity-focused assessment and analysis of online student success initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and implementing data-driven solutions. Design and implement proactive student outreach and programming to foster a sense of belonging among online students. Collaborate with various academic and student affairs units to advance online student-centered and equity-minded programs, practices, and strategies. Lead multiple complex success and retention-related initiatives for UNLV, NSHE, professional associations, and accreditation agencies. Supervise a team of Online Student Support Specialists and provide strategic work direction to ensure effective caseload management and student support. Work closely with the Student Outreach Specialist team to expand momentum for current and future incoming first-year cohorts. Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, candidates must possess: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). 3-5 years of experience working in student affairs or student services in higher education. 1-3 years of supervisory and management experience. Knowledge of customer relation management tools, student information systems, and data analytics software. Knowledge of equity-minded and student-centered practices in higher education. Excellent coordination, communication, and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable: A Master's degree from an accredited institution. Experience working in higher education, with a deep understanding of research, theory, resources, and practices that promote online student success and educational equity. Experience implementing student success initiatives using data-informed decisions in a platform similar to Salesforce Student Success Hub. Knowledge of Salesforce Student Success Hub, PeopleSoft, and SAS Analytics Software. Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and trends of online student success, as well as policies, procedures, and practices of programs that impact retention and graduation. Skills and Competencies The ideal candidate will possess: Strong interpersonal and partnership-building skills. Ability to mediate between multiple stakeholders when identifying problems, deploying solutions, and enhancing services. Specialized skills to analyze and diagnose complex procedural problems or situations accurately and make recommendations for improvement. Strong writing, proofreading, and editorial skills. Ability to lead and support multiple groups and constituents through influence rather than positional authority. Ability to develop strategic actions using data to promote student progress.
