About Our Materials and Structural Analysis Electron Microscopy (M&SA EM) Business Our M&SA EM business is at the forefront of high-performance microscopy workflows, providing images and answers in the micro-, nano-, and picometer scales. We design, manufacture, and support a broad range of sophisticated microscopy systems that help customers find meaningful answers to questions that accelerate breakthrough discoveries and ultimately change the world. Job Summary We're seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to join our team, responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electron microscopy systems at customer sites worldwide. As a Field Service Engineer, you'll have the opportunity to work with a variety of customers, from research institutions to industries, and contribute to the advancement of scientific discovery. Key Responsibilities Installation and Commissioning: Conduct on-site installation of sophisticated electron microscopy systems, ensuring accurate working order and completing testing procedures. Planned Maintenance: Perform scheduled planned maintenance visits to ensure systems are operating at optimal levels. Troubleshooting and Repair: Provide diagnosis and repair support for customers and other field personnel, resolving problems efficiently and effectively. Customer Relationships: Cultivate and develop positive working relationships with customers, system users, and company personnel. Travel: Travel, often on short notice, to customer sites to resolve problems or support other field service personnel. Reporting: Complete and submit field service reports, providing feedback to product quality teams and input for system documentation updates. Training: Provide training to customers and users on system maintenance, and act as a subject expert and resource for training. Requirements Education Bachelor's Degree: Minimum education requirement is a bachelor's degree or 4+ years equivalent education and experience in electronic systems. Experience Technical Experience: Minimum experience is 1+ year of hands-on technical experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating sophisticated analysis tools such as SEM, TEM, FIB, or similar systems. Ultra-High Vacuum and High Voltage Systems: A detailed understanding and extensive experience diagnosing and repairing ultra-high vacuum and high voltage systems. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Customer Service: Ability to deal effectively with customers and excellent interpersonal communication skills. Language Skills: Professional working proficiency in English. Technical Skills: Consistent record of fixing sophisticated systems and subsystems down to the component level, literate in MS DOS and Windows software environments, and able to read and interpret schematics. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, valid driver's license, and ability to acquire a valid passport and travel regionally and internationally as required.
