The PhD Program Coordinator will be housed within the Graduate Student Programs and Services (GSPS) team and will play a critical role in planning, coordinating, and administering student-facing activities for all Pratt PhD programs. Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of duties, including: Developing, coordinating, and advising on policy related to assigned major programs Collaborating with the broader Student Engagement and Support (SES) team to deliver an exceptional and supportive PhD student experience Making operational and programmatic decisions that have a significant impact on the successful achievement of PhD program strategies and objectives Designing or modifying and delivering programs to help PhD students build essential skills, create community, participate in health and wellness activities, and engage with academic and personal resources Managing programs by monitoring and evaluating program effectiveness using qualitative and quantitative research techniques Investigating trends and recommending and implementing modifications to improve program effectiveness Areas of Strategic Direction and Oversight The PhD Program Coordinator will provide strategic direction and oversight in the following areas: PhD Plus Professional Development Program (professional skills development program) Student health and well-being programs EGSC support (student government) Student matriculation and onboarding (new student orientation) Student program/event management Alumni tracking and engagement Social media account management Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, candidates must have: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as education, student affairs, or a related field At least 2-3 years of experience in higher education, preferably in a student affairs or academic support role Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Experience with program development, implementation, and evaluation Preferred Qualifications Preferred candidates will have: A master's degree in a relevant field, such as education, student affairs, or a related field Experience working with PhD students or in a graduate education setting Knowledge of student development theory and practice Experience with social media management and marketing Experience with event planning and management Strong budgeting and financial management skills Skills and Competencies The successful candidate will possess: Strong leadership and management skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and reports Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Duke University, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
