Position Overview As a Special Education Teacher with Workwarp, you will play a vital role in supporting the instructional program and providing related educational services for students with diverse needs. You will work closely with general education teachers, assess and evaluate student achievement, and modify instructional activities to ensure that all students have the opportunity to succeed. Key Responsibilities Instructional Planning and Implementation: Plan and implement an instructional program that meets the diverse needs of students, including the development of individualized education plans (IEPs) and the use of adaptive technologies. Student Assessment and Evaluation: Continually assess student achievement and maintain accurate records of student progress, including the use of data to inform instruction and make data-driven decisions. Classroom Management: Manage the behavior of learners in an instructional setting to ensure that the environment is conducive to the learning process, and assist and participate in the management of student behavior in all parts of the program. Collaboration and Communication: Coordinate instructional activities with other professional staff, including school and non-school-based teachers, and communicate with parents and guardians to keep them informed of student progress. Professional Development: Participate in in-service and professional development activities and staff meetings, as required or assigned, to stay current with best practices in special education and distance learning. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications: Valid Virginia or Out-of-State Teaching License in Special Education: Holds a valid Virginia or out-of-state teaching license in Special Education, or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license in Special Education (must submit transcripts). Knowledge of Special Education Principles and Practices: Demonstrates knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment of instructional specialty(ies) to which assigned, including knowledge of pre-adolescent and adolescent growth and development. Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, administrators, and parents, and excellent human relations skills. Technical Skills: Skill in the use of multi-media and computer technology to enhance learning, including the use of learning management systems and other digital tools. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following preferred qualifications will be considered an asset: Experience in Distance Learning or Virtual Education: Previous experience in distance learning or virtual education, including the use of online learning platforms and digital tools. Knowledge of Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) Curriculum: Familiarity with LCPS curriculum related to assignments and School Division mission, goals, and organization. Bilingual or Multilingual Skills: Ability to communicate in multiple languages, including Spanish, Arabic, or other languages spoken by our diverse student population. Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Lesson Planning and Instructional Design: Ability to plan and implement lessons based on Division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Classroom Management and Organization: Ability to manage the behavior of learners in an instructional setting and maintain a well-organized and supportive learning environment. Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, including the use of technology to facilitate communication. Problem-Solving and Adaptability: Ability to think critically and creatively, and to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
