About the Role: Staff Software Engineer, Store System Payments We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in leading the development and design of our store system payments product. You will be responsible for building and growing the skillsets of junior engineers, contributing to foundational code elements, and creating architectural diagrams and product-related documentation. Your expertise and leadership will be essential in driving the success of our product team. Key Responsibilities Delivery and Execution (50%): Develop, test, deploy, and maintain software applications, with a clear understanding of the value they provide. You will take a broad view when approaching issues, using a global lens, and consistently achieve results, even under tough circumstances. Learns and Grows (10%): Actively seek ways to grow and be challenged using both formal and informal development channels. You will learn through successful and failed experiments when tackling new problems. Plans and Aligns (20%): Create new and better ways for the organization to be successful. You will deliver multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences and collaborate with the product team to ensure user stories are developer-ready, easy to understand, and testable. Supports and Enables (20%): Field questions from product and engineering teams, help grow junior engineers by providing guidance on modern software development frameworks, and lead technical discussions. You will note gaps on the team and provide suggestions for changes to make the team more productive. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you must possess the following essential qualifications: Must be eighteen years of age or older. Must be legally permitted to work in the United States. Bachelor's degree in a field of study related to the job or equivalent degree. Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience. Preferred Qualifications We prefer candidates with the following qualifications: 3-5 years of relevant work experience. Extensive experience with front-end technology such as HTML, CSS, and Javascript/Typescript frameworks, an object-oriented programming language (preferably Java), Relational or NoSQL database technology, cloud computing techniques, CI/CD tools, and modern software design patterns. Experience in effective data modeling with both Relational and NoSQL databases. Experience with security frameworks for user and services authorization and authentication. Experience with creating and executing unit, functional, destructive, and performance tests. Experience with modern debugging and root cause analysis techniques. Experience with version control systems. Experience in designing systems for High Availability, Disaster Recovery, Performance, Efficiency, and Security. Exposure to developing technical roadmaps, including work estimation, refactoring, and modernizing legacy systems.
