Job Summary The Senior Data Scientist will be responsible for managing end-to-end projects, from ETL to predictive modeling, data visualization, and BI reporting. Key Responsibilities Data Quality: Interpret raw data from multiple sources into meaningful and valuable insights for data-driven decision making, with digital pipelines handling ETL. As a knowledgeable expert on internal/external data sources, ensure data is as clean as possible and a reliable source of truth, identifying discrepancies and developing workarounds where required. Statistical Modeling: Design and develop new predictive models using statistical and machine learning techniques to estimate and project a user's engagement with the Disney platforms across multiple KPIs. Dive into drivers of change when interpreting forecasts and drive changes to the science in the forecast that will enhance accuracy. Business Acumen: Build visualizations and interfaces to communicate results to business partners in an easily digestible, maintainable, and automated way. Analyze data to identify patterns, uncover potential opportunities, and create a common understanding of digital media consumption. Leadership/Collaboration: Partner closely with business partners (primarily the addressable estimating groups within Research, Insights, and Measurement) to identify and pursue opportunities, and with other data teams to improve capabilities around data modeling, testing platforms, and data visualization. Act as a resource for colleagues with less expertise. Process Improvement: Drive innovation by exploring new statistical methods and brainstorming ways to enhance the current forecasting and reporting infrastructure, making processes significantly better. Agile Methodologies: Apply Agile principles through participating in standups, sprint planning, writing business requirements documents, and reviews. Participate in an 'Open Source' learning environment where sharing, documenting, teaching, and collaborating with others is the culture. Essential Qualifications Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience in data science or a related field High proficiency in SQL and Python (e.g., pandas, numpy, scikit-learn) for data analysis Experience with ETL, data pipeline management, and cloud infrastructure for managing large datasets (e.g., AWS, PySpark, Snowflake, Airflow, Databricks) Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) Experience designing and implementing predictive models (e.g., generalized linear models, time series, decision trees, etc.) Experience working with Git Proven sense of ownership and effective project management - you have a knack for investigating complex problems with smart fixes Relational skills - you're able to switch between technical and non-technical terminology depending on the audience Curiosity - you enjoy digging deeper to find the bigger picture and are open to learning new technologies Client/Customer Focused - you have strong interpersonal skills, building relationships across teams and works to gain trust and advance business objectives Humility - you're willing to contribute to the team, ego aside, with an enthusiasm about helping others Comfort with complex data and flexibility in dynamic environments Preferred Qualifications Experience using web frameworks (Django) and JavaScript libraries (ReactJS, JQuery) to build professional frontend and backend web applications focused on user experience Experience implementing Docker containers Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Disney, we are committed to providing our employees with opportunities for growth and development.
